Sitting down to share the stories of the day’s adventures over a glass of wine or cocktail is always a holiday highlight and golden hour in Cape Town is truly a sight to behold, lending itself beautifully to these sundowner moments. Here are a few of our favourite sundowner spots to add to your Cape Town bucket list.

A day of adventure deserves the perfect closing scene and our pool deck at Cape View Clifton, complete with uninterrupted views of Cape Town’s iconic Clifton and Camps Bay coastline, meets the brief. Our lounge bar is perfectly placed on your way to the magnificent pool deck and is always stocked and ready for your arrival. The Lawns at The Roundhouse is a relaxed affair, nestled at the base of Table Mountain National Park, and boasts an array of outdoor spaces that take full advantage of the dramatic views and mountainside location. Whether you sink into one of the bean bags on the lawns, book a luxury picnic, settle in on the Oak Terrace or relax in one of the private cabanas, this is a superb setting for a summer sundowner.

An African sunset enjoyed on top of Table Mountain should be on every visitor’s to do list when they visit Cape Town. Choose to head up via cable car (during the summer months, return tickets for the cable car are half price after 6pm) or take a few hours and hike to the top. You will be rewarded with magnificent views of our beautiful city as you watch the sun slip behind the horizon. Grab a drink and a snack from the restaurant at the top or let us arrange a gourmet picnic basket for you to take with you.

Located on the Sea Point promenade, its beautiful ocean views, elegant dining area and outside deck, outstanding Italian menu and expertly made cocktails, make for a luxurious sundowner spot. Take a seat, order your favourite tipple and enjoy the breathtaking sunset scenes.

Chinchilla is an exclusive rooftop venue and the first of its kind in Camps Bay. The beachy, boho-chic interiors invite you to unwind and relax while you snack on cafe-style nibbles and sip on cocktails whipped up by in-house mixologists. On Saturdays and Sundays, the resident DJs offer a vibey soundtrack to your sunset experience too.
