We were honoured to host Lea Crafford, an incredibly talented lifestyle photographer, a few weeks ago at Ekuthuleni Lodge and Tshwene Lodge. We love how she captured so many beautiful moments through her lens. Have a look at some of her favourite photographs below and enjoy a small glimpse into her stay with us.

I recently had the opportunity to visit both Ekuthuleni Lodge and Tshwene Lodge in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. It was such an incredible experience and I had the best time capturing the beauty of both lodges, there is something absolutely magical about the reserve. I was blown away by our guides, they went out of their way to explain the finer details of the landscape their knowledge was endless (or so it seemed). Another stand out moment every time I pulled out my camera during the golden hour! It was amazing to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of real life and just focus on the beauty of the natural landscape and the people we met on our journey.

FIRST STOP: On arrival at Ekuthuleni Lodge we were treated to some refreshments and a quick tour of the lodge. It is one of the oldest lodges in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve and it’s definitely packed with charm and an abundance of stories.

IN MY ELEMENT: On our game drives we saw so many lions and I couldn’t resist taking loads of photos of them.

OUR INCREDIBLE GUIDES: I can only imagine how magical it must be to spend every day as a guide in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. It’s truly inspiring to hear the guides explain the smaller details of the land and the wildlife.

TEA IN THE BUSH: Stopping for tea and rusks in the early morning, while in awe of the peace and quiet that surrounded us (apart from the birds waking up).

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY: Next stop was Tshwene Lodge. There was something about sleeping up in the tree canopy that had me completely relaxed during my stay.

VIEW FOR DAYS: The lodge is beautiful from all angles, with the most incredible views from the suites.

GOLDEN HOUR: It is a truly spectacular moment when the sun slips behind the horizon and the sky turns golden while you sip on a ice cold drink.

AFRICAN ADVENTURE: There’s nothing like being surrounded by bush for miles, as far as the eye can see. I can understand why people say that Welgevonden is such a special place!

SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT: The food was seriously good! I have to say we were fed some of the most incredible meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I’LL BE BACK: I’m so glad I got to explore this part of South Africa. I have absolutely no doubt that I’lll be back one day sipping a G&T at the side of the vehicle watching a breathtaking sunset over the hills of Welgevonden.
